Modular Office Building for Honda of South Carolina

Challenge:

Honda of South Carolina is one of their 13 manufacturing facilities in the United States.  Built in 1997 the factory specializes in manufacturing Honda’s line of ATVs and has a total area of roughly 650,000 square feet! With over 900 associates operating in the facility daily, the factory provides a lot of amenities and services to ensure they have a comfortable and healthy work environment as possible.  This includes providing an exercise area for all of their employees.  Sitting on a steel mezzanine above their recycling area, the gym space offers treadmills and exercise bikes to ensure all employees can keep a healthy lifestyle. Honda of South Carolina searched for a way to enclose the area and offer a quieter and more controlled environment.

Solution

Since the facility is focused on efficiency in its production, the factory could not afford a large disruption and needed to find a quick and easy solution. So, looking to solve this problem, Jeff Davis with The Rembert Company worked with Honda of South Carolina to develop a modular solution to fit their specific space needs.  Working with us on a variety of projects in the past, Jeff knew he could rely on Panel Built to deliver an office space that could satisfy these needs.

Panel Built Delivers

The final design was a 41' x 47'x 12' inplant office that was to be installed on the preexisting mezzanine.  Overall, the new modular office system offers 1,900 square feet of usable office space.  The system is separated into two different office areas.  The new offices have individual HVACs, allowing the employees a nice place to cool down after a workout.  The system utilized our 3” vinyl covered Gypsum/Gypsum panels, our binder-post system, and provides a 20 PSF load-bearing roof.  Panel Built used Model Modular for the structure’s installation, and they did an excellent job of documenting the job process step-by-step with pictures and keeping job site neat and orderly for Honda.  Panel Built, Inc. would like to thank all parties involved for their great work on the project.
