September Project of the Month 2017
Maximizing Overhead Space with Dual Mezzanines
Panel Built’s Project of the Month for September goes to this pair of structural steel mezzanines for Konecranes, a world-leading group of lift equipment and services.
To start the project, Jim Lang, General Manager of Konecranes Training Institute, worked with Panel Built’s salesperson, Kirsten Reff, and our engineering department to find a custom storage solution that fit the facility’s specific space needs. The two mezzanines, measuring 12’ x 37’7” and 35’ x 39’8”, provide over 1500 sq. ft. of usable space above the floor in their New Berlin, Wisconsin facility.
Both of the mezzanines have IBC stair and railing systems. The larger of the two mezzanines is equipped with a section of removable handrail to help with the loading and unloading of items off of the platform.
The mezzanines are engineered and designed with a pounds-per-square foot rating of 125, and both have performance yellow hand railing, and fire engine red beams and columns.
